Having spent his childhood in the coal belt of South Yorkshire and in Africa Andrew Bond is very much aware of the fact that life isn't fair. He feels strongly that those who like himself live on a very sunny part of the street are obliged to grab some of those sunrays and take them to the shady parts of our planet.
Andrew is eager to perform in institutions for handicapped children for only a fraction of his normal fee and he supports all kinds of charity, mainly for children in need, in his home country or in other parts of the world.
In Switzerland he is one of the celebrity patrons of a Unicef charity week each November in which children collect money for special Unicef projects. Last year over 20 000 children collected more than 500 000 SFR (over £200 000) for schools in Bhutan.
Together with other musicians Andrew has released two special charity samplers in aid of the same projects. And each year he visits a number of the children's activities or performs with them. |
